Tobacco Farm Life MuseumJohnston County has the largest number of working farms in North Carolina, and continues to lead the nation in production of cash crops, including sweet potatoes.· For several years, area farmers have expanded their operations to sustain the family farm, offering agri-tainment, farm markets, on-farm tours and promoting local products.

If you grew up on a farm and want to re-visit or reminisce, or you want to introduce to your children to where local foods are produced, you will enjoy many options in the county.  Several working farms and ag-businesses have educational options: Lazy O Farm, Atkinson’s Mill, Banks Miniature Horses, Smithfield Ham Shop, Triple S Ranch, Smith’s Nursery and Boyette Farm’s Fear Farm and Lights on the Neuse events are very popular.

Johnston County now has three wineries for tours, special events and wine tastings: Enoch Winery, Gregory Vineyards, Hinnant Family Vineyard and Winery and a new wine trail for visitors to enjoy!

Tobacco Farm Life Museum has been offering agri-tourism educational programs and special events for over 25 years and continues to enhance the site with a restore homestead, and working blacksmith shop, one-room schoolhouse and more!
