Welcome Media


The Battle of Bentonville 160th Anniversary Reenactment March 15-16, 2024, will be a spectacular experience with charging horses, firing cannons, and more than 3,500 reenactors participating. It will be a media event. Guidelines and rules are necessary to ensure safety and access to media representatives covering the event. We look forward to sharing with you an exciting experience. All media attending the Bentonville Battlefield Reenactment event will need to have pre-approved credentials from the North Carolina Department of Natural & Cultural Resources. To register as a member of the media and/or freelance photographer, please go here. Freelancers must register by March 8th and must provide a portfolio of work.

Media Preview Day is March 13, starting at 10 AM in the large tent behind the Visitor Center. It will include tour stops, artillery demonstrations, and costumed reenactors for interviews. More information to come!

Rules & Guidelines for Media Credentials


Film/Video/Television
The designated area for all film/video/television crews will be one of the scaffoldings indicated for videographers. Video film crews will be separated from photographers; a limit of two crew members is allowed on the scaffolding.

Photographers/Reporters
The designated area for all photographers will be one of the scaffolding, and only one photographer and one reporter are allowed. All photographers and reporters will be asked to sign a photo release form upon arrival on the historic site grounds. Our press team will notify photographers at the reenactment of any further restrictions or modifications. Photographers who are granted a media credential and photo media pass must agree to abide by all Re-enactment policies. Only one photo pass will be allowed per day/per media outlet. A photo pass does not allow access to the battlefield.

Credential Pick-Up
Confirmation of your approved press credentials will be sent via email, along with further instructions for obtaining your credentials. Media check-in will be located in the information tent in front of the visitor center. No credentials will be mailed in advance; all media must check in to receive passes.

Parking
There will be no designated parking for media except satellite trucks.

Liability Waiver
All media attending the re-enactment and using the staged areas must sign a liability waiver, releasing the state's historic site from liability while filming or taking photography during the event.

Walk to the Battlefields
Please be aware that on Saturday, the walk from the Visitor Center to the battlefield is approximately .25 of a mile. On Sunday, expect the walk to be .5 mile from the Visitor Center. Be prepared with comfortable shoes and arrive at least 30-45 minutes prior to the battle to get into position.
