Historic Smithfield Walking Tour

Walk and Explore Smithfield

The Smithfield Walking Tour begins at the Johnston County Heritage Center with 19 featured stops outlining the history of the town, which was founded in 1777.  Walk along the Neuse River to the Johnston County Courthouse, and enjoy the variety of architectural features of the homes, churches, and businesses. The walking tour is a great excursion for school groups, so please check with the Heritage Center for information on a guided tour.

While in Downtown, please enjoy a bite to eat, or stop for a visit at the Ava Gardner Museum.
