BOARD MEETING MINUTES

I.          Call to Order – E Brame, Chairman

E Brame called the meeting to order at 12:18 pm and stated that a quorum was present. With no corrections, the agenda was adopted. Brame asked for a motion to accept the April minutes that were previously sent to the board.

 L Daniels motioned to accept the April minutes as presented.  J Stallings seconded.  Motion passed unanimously.

II.        Finances - March Financials - D Bailey-Taylor

Month-to-Date Revenue for April was $79,094.39. Month-to-Date Operations were $62,378.94. Net Income for the month was $16,715.45. Year-to-Date Revenues were $747,314.92. Year-to-Date Operations were $684,904.25. Year-to-Date net income was $62,410.67. The March revenues were $55,644.13. Smithfield’s March Revenues were $17,656.49. Selma’s March Revenues were $8,157.03. Kenly’s March Revenues were $1,858.18.  Benson’s March Revenues were $835.39.  D Bailey-Taylor noted two town revenues were not deposited on time, yet the overall revenues remain in the positive.  

IV.       Special Projects Committee – T Stewart

None.

V.       Marketing Committee – S Henley

D Bailey-Taylor stated that E Dean was focusing on the new JCVB website and would have a link to share with the marketing committee by next month's meeting.  E Bailey is continuing to work on the new Beer, Wine and Shine brochure. The wineries will meet in two weeks to review the brochure.  D Bailey-Taylor stated that the bureau continues to work on the Parks & Recreation Master Plan. The county GIS department is involved with the mapping of all the sports facilities. A Astoske is working with the towns to get parcel numbers for all facilities in advance to the May 21st meeting.  The committee was working on a Google Adwords Campaign worksheet. This exercise will help the Bureau know how to best use Google Adwords to reach niche markets. D Bailey-Taylor met with Studio RTP about manages SEO and SEM. They will help with research from a marketing view point and will work on an adwords campaign for Johnston County.

VI.       Sports Council Committee – J Godfrey

J Godfrey stated the kick off meeting for the Parks & Recreation Master Plan will be May 21st. Any board members who wish to attend, please do. The bike routes have gone to the town planning departments for approvals for routes. D Bailey-Taylor stated that so far Archer's Lodge was the only town to request the bureau to attend a question and answer meeting.   

VII.     Staff Report – D Bailey-Taylor

D Bailey-Taylor reported that she had met with the new management/promotion contacts with Galot Racetrack. Their grand opening will be in June with a Bluegrass Concert. She shared the importance of the racetrack using Johnston County facilities and A Astoske has gathered event and corporate hotel rates for the manager of the track.  D Bailey-Taylor attended a PR planning meeting at the Bentonville Battlefield site with the NC Department of Cultural Resources and the Bentonville 150th Press Kit materials will be in place by October.  E Bailey's Washington Media Trip went well with approximately 20 one-on-one meetings with various writers. Benson billboards are installed and have received several good comments from town leaders. 301 Endless Yard Sale promotional materials are complete and there will be a survey in place to hand out to get feedback from vendors. The Yard Sale ads on FB have generated 1,404 new page likes this month. D Bailey-Taylor has added a segment to the staff report to show the social media reach and new page likes. The bureau is running a social media promotional campaign for Scotty and The Farm through Visitnc.com which D Bailey-Taylor won at the Governor's Conference. The Ham and Yam website had 31,046 page views this month. Software Management, our D3000 database company, has been sold to Simpleview. The bureau still has a two year contract before having to decide what steps to take to convert to Simpleview. D Bailey-Taylor passed around a sample of the sign design from the Smithfield Wayfinding meeting for feedback from the board.
