Smithfield, NC (April 14th, 2016) - Congrats to Johnston County native Casey Austin Allen and his Raleigh-based band Season & Snare. They recently won Periscoper of the Year at the 8th Annual Shorty Awards which honors the best of social media by recognizing the influencers, brands, and organizations on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, and more. Past winners include Taylor Swift, Tyler Oakley, Malala Yousafzai, and NASA.

Season & Snare is an indie pop music duo that includes Casey and his band mate Autumn Rose Brand. The two were at the Shorty Awards this past Sunday night in New York City to receive the award, presented to them by Al Roker. The awards ceremony was streamed live with celebrities from the music and entertainment industry in attendance to both present and receive awards.

Casey was still brimming with excitement when speaking about the win, "it was so crazy for us, we were not expecting it at all. We were against a lot of other Periscopers that have amazing content. We were completely surprised when they called out our name."

Periscoper of the Year is a new category this year due to the newness of the platform. Periscope is an app that allows users to stream live content to followers in real-time. Casey and Autumn use Periscope to give impromptu concerts from their living room to share their music directly to fans and to gain new followers who stumble onto the live sessions. Their early and enthusiastic use of the app caught the eye of the people at Periscope who invited the Season & Snare duo to their annual conference this past year. To date the band has more than 19,000 Periscope followers.

"It was a humbling experience being there around all these celebrities that we see on TV and people that have gotten so much recognition from the internet," Casey continued, "it still seems like a dream."

You can catch Season & Snare on Periscope any time they are live. But you can also see them in the Raleigh area very soon. Casey said they plan to do more live concerts this year, "right now we are preparing for a show in Raleigh this weekend at Deep South Bar. It is the Benefit for Interact to raise awareness for domestic violence."

The band released an EP called Seek earlier this year and Casey hints that more music and more surprise releases are on the way, "the new music is going to be a thank you to our fans and everyone who voted for us in the Shorty Awards and has supported us."
