New Rural NC Food Hall Announces First Vendor
December 12, 2019 (Selma, NC) - The Old North State Food Hall - www.oldnorthstatefoodhall.com - announces its first food vendor, national award-winning Redneck BBQ Lab. Ideally located off Exit 97 of I-95N in Selma, NC, and paired with the North Carolina Craft House, a 3,000 square foot full-service bar and bottle shop focusing on North Carolina brands, the Old North State Food Hall will become a destination for lovers of food as well as craft beer, cider, wine and spirits from across the state. Slated to open late Spring/early Summer of 2020.
The Redneck BBQ Lab will expand from their original location off I-40 in McGees Crossroads, NC, bringing traditional NC Pork BBQ to the Old North State Food Hall. The Lab will also offer their beef brisket, burnt ends, house-made pastrami, beef ribs, pastrami beef ribs, pork ribs and smoked chicken for interstate travelers to stop off, relax and enjoy.
“Some of the best BBQ in North Carolina is coming out of Johnston County and we couldn’t be happier to partner with Redneck BBQ Lab, keeping it local, ” said Larry Lane, operator of the food hall.
Jerry Stephenson, owner, competitive BBQ cook, and Food Network's Chopped: Grill Masters Alumnus says “We are thrilled to be the BBQ vendor at the nation’s first roadside food hall, showcasing the very best North Carolina has to offer. We look forward to continuing to spread the love and smiles one plate at a time to a new set of friends very much like we have here to local North Carolinians the past 3 years.”
The Redneck BBQ Lab - www.theredneckbbqlab.com - was founded in January 2017 by Jerry L. Stephenson, Jr. and a college buddy who had a crazy idea to start a restaurant based on Jerry’s award-winning BBQ. After a few years of conversations, much praying and contemplating, the two found a spot in McGee’s Crossroads. All meats and sides are prepared fresh by The Lab’s Pit Crew who individually trim and season all their meats, hand strip locally grown Johnston County collards and bake Atkinson Mill cornbread from scratch each morning.
The Lab’s techniques, sauces, and rubs have been perfected on the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) circuit for the past 8 years. Stephenson and his sister, Roxanne Manley, have won over 23 Grand Championships, 19 Reserve Grand Championships and over 500+ Top Ten Individual Calls with their competition team, Redneck Scientific. No other competition team from North Carolina has ever had better success at these World Championships.
The Old North State Food Hall, developed by AdVenture Development and operated by Lane Property Management, will house 10 unique, chef-driven concepts in 13,000 square feet of the newly redeveloped building – Triangle East Collaborative.
Additional accolades for the Redneck Scientific competition BBQ team include:
