This workshop will introduce you to ways to paint in oil and cold wax using various mixed media as a way to enhance your paintings. While we will cover some of the basics, cold wax application methods, as well as color and composition. We will also do exercises designed to expand your creativity.
You’ll learn ways to make rich textures by incorporating paper and found objects collage, sand, and a variety of other materials. This workshop will offer discussions/demos, lots of studio painting time, as well as individual critique concerning your own personal direction in your art making. We will work on both panels and paper.
All supplies to create up to 3 original paintings are included and no previous art experience necessary. You may also bring in a gessoed cradled wood panel (up to 16x16 in size) if you prefer. *You may want to wear old clothes because our process could get messy.
Below are some items that you may want to bring, but it is optional:
Gloves or protective cream for hands
Notebook or sketchbook for taking notes and keeping ideas.
