The parade is free and open to the public. The parade route will travel along Market Street from 6th Street to 2nd Street, bringing community members together to honor the life, legacy, and lasting impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year’s parade will feature Doris Wallace as Grand Marshal and Comedian Jay Derrell as Parade Master of Ceremonies.
The event is designed to celebrate unity, reflection, and service while encouraging the community to continue living Dr. King’s dream through action and engagement. “The theme ‘Urgency Meet Legacy’ reminds us that Dr. King’s message remains just as relevant today as it was during the Civil Rights Movement,” organizers said. “This parade is both a celebration and a call to action.”
For the safety of attendees, any candy distributed during the parade will be placed directly into demonstrated hands only. Motorists should expect temporary traffic impacts in the downtown area prior to and during the parade.
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and plan accordingly.
