The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) is excited to announce the re-opening of the Third StrEATery, Downtown Smithfield’s Socially Distanced Outside Dining Room and Live Entertainment Venue.
Come downtown with your family, meet up with your friends, get takeout from a downtown restaurant, and head over to Third Street from 6-9pm to hear live music, shop from local businesses, have a beer or glass of wine, or try your hand at axe throwing! Afterward, catch a movie or enjoy drinks at one of our restaurants or bars. The 100 block of S. Third Street will be closed, and tables and chairs will be set up in the street.
Performances will take place from 6-9pm and feature the following musicians:
May 7 - Alex Williams, Guitar/Keyboard/Vocals
May 21 - Nate Brown, Steel Drum and Keyboard
June 4 - Uniquely Different Entertainment, Saxophone
June 18 - Blazin' Keys Dueling Pianos
July 9 - Arbor Strings, String Trio
July 23 - Adam Pitts, One Man Band
On May 7, June 4, and July 9, Fat Axe Throwing Co. will have their mobile axe throwing unit on site for participants to enjoy. Under the Oak Restaurant & Market will have a Vendor Market on May 7 and June 4 from 5-8pm, featuring local makers, farmers, crafters, and artists. Other downtown businesses will be open and have special promotions. Visit the Historic Downtown Smithfield, NC Facebook page to learn more.
In order to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved, the DSDC asks that all attendees adhere to the guidelines outlined by the State of North Carolina at the time of the event. As of the issuance of this press release, Executive Order 209 requires social distancing and the recommended wearing of face masks outside when it is not possible to maintain six feet between people from different households. The DSDC will provide touchless, automatic hand sanitizing stations.
What is a streatery? A streatery allows restaurants or to use portions of an adjacent street during operating hours, functioning as additional outdoor seating.
What about alcohol? Alcohol must be kept on the sidewalk within the area specified by the restaurant from which you purchased it.
Can I bring my dog? Yes, leashed dogs are welcome (please make sure that you pick up after them).
Why are you doing this? Opening the Third StrEATery allows us to encourage people to be downtown and support our restaurants and businesses in a safe way!
