The Clayton Center and Book Black Women present an open-mic competition, Yaya's Amateur Night! Join us for a night of entertainment, community engagement, and culture driven nostalgia! You’ll travel back in time as the Sandman dances with his hook and you’ll two-step when our special guest band starts jamming! We urge you to laugh, applaud, sing along -and boo - as local talents grace The Clayton Center stage to compete! Interested in auditioning? Put together your best act, sign up for an audition, and compete for a grand prize!
Get ready for an unforgettable evening of talent, fun, and community! The stage is set, the Sandman is ready, and 10 incredible contestants are gearing up to showcase their best performances. Who will shine the brightest and take home the cash prize? You’ll have to be there to find out!!
The night will be hosted by the one and only Ricki Nelson, your reigning Miss Black North Carolina 2024! With her energy, grace, and charisma, she’ll make this a night to remember. Also on the line up: live music by Radio boxx and Dez Humphrey and fun for the entire family! Bring your energy and applause, and get ready to cheer (or boo!) as the stars of tomorrow step into the spotlight. Sponsored by North Carolina Arts Council and the Johnston County Arts Council.
IMPORTANT EVENT NOTES All seating is reserved and all ticket sales are final. A 60-mile zip code radius limit is in place for ticket sales for this show. Patrons outside of this radius can purchase tickets online but must select Will Call as the delivery method. There is a 9-ticket limit per order on this event. Please call the Box Office if you need to order more than 6 tickets in one order. A group discount is available through the Box Office for groups of 10 or more. All patrons, regardless of age, must have a ticket for admission. Accessible seating can be purchased online by selecting the ADA price code.
Online ticket sales end 2 hours prior to the start of the performance. After this time, tickets are available for purchase at the door. Click here for helpful info to Know Before You Go.
