The Atkinson-Smith House is a historic 1850′s home that sits about 8 miles from downtown Smithfield, NC. This house was built for Elijah Atkinson about 1850. He was a prosperous planter owning several thousand acres. After his death, his widow Polly married William A. Smith, an important political figure. He was a strong Unionist and after the Civil War, a Republican who was president of the North Carolina Railroad and the Yadkin Railroad.
This Historic Antebellum Southern Plantation is a handsome Greek Revival that will welcome you and your guest with a two-tier porch and Doric and Ionic columns, a wide central hall and winding staircase. We offer antique interiors, heart of pine floors and simple décor that guests can personalize.
Accommodates 200 for customized ceremonies, weddings, showers, and special events with barn, event space and grounds.
