The Visitors Bureau worked with a local company, Matthew Telford Films, to produce a short video about the fun and flavor found in picking your own strawberries straight from the field during the spring. Johnston County has multiple farms offering U-Pick options during berry season, many also offer blueberry picking once strawberries are done. Getting fresh, local strawberries is an annual tradition in JoCo.
Smith's Nursery, as well as many other farm-operated produce-stands across the county, are working right now to ensure the health and safety of all visitors to the farm; we ask that you practice social distancing while picking and purchasing your field-fresh berries.
Smith's is open year-round for fishing and the pick-your-own seasons offer visitors the opportunity to pick strawberries in late-April to June, and blueberries and blackberries in the summer months. Come cooler weather head back to the farm with the kids to pick a pumpkin. Also available in season are fresh produce, jellies, and pound cakes. Be sure to check the events calendar for more details on their annual events.
