An Artful Day in Clayton

A bridge along the Clayton River Walk in Clayton, NC.Downtown Clayton has become a destination for visitors who love the arts. It didn't happen overnight, but we sure are glad it did. We have put together a sample day trip itinerary for you, featuring many of the great things Clayton has to offer.

Suggested Itinerary:

10:00 am  Sam’s Branch Greenway
Take a walk along the Mountains to the Sea Trail and enjoy the views of the Neuse River.

12:00pm    Lunch Options in Downtown Clayton
Grab a bite to eat and explore and shop downtown.

1:45pm     Enjoy a sweet treat at Nancy Jo's after lunch

2:30pm     Downtown Clayton Sculpture Trail

The town of Clayton has brought public art to the forefront with the Clayton Sculpture Trail. After a great lunch, you can enjoy a brisk walk as you view the many different sculptures that make a bold statement throughout town. We suggest starting in Horne Square (348 East Main Street). See a separate map just for the sculpture trail.

5:00pm     Dinner Options

There are several options for dinner along Main Street in Clayton...what are you in the mood for?  

7:00 pm   Plan your trip around one of the shows at The Clayton Center, which normally start at 8pm but be sure to arrive early to enjoy the rotating art exhibits in the lobby.
